Spirit Lake (Dickinson): Anglers are fishing for walleyes at Cottonwood, Big Stoney, Little Stoney, and Red Nose points with live bait where the weed lines and rock meet. Use worms or leeches while drifting, or troll with crankbaits. Look for crappies along weed lines on the main lake, Anglers Bay, or Buffalo Run. Fish the rocky areas at Big Stoney and Little Stoney points or along rock shorelines with boat docks using jerk baits or jig and pigs or fish top-water lures in the evening for smallmouth bass. Anglers are using small ice jigs under slip bobbers or drifting with a split shot rig with leeches or worms along weed lines and rock piles for bluegills. Look for yellow perch at the rock reef at Buffalo Run or Little Stoney Point using live bait. Anglers targeting northern pike are trolling or casting along the weed lines and cabbage beds in the main lake and in Anglers Bay.
East Okoboji Lake (Dickinson): White bass are biting a jig and minnow at Hinshaw's Bridge at sunrise and sunset and at the south end of the trestle along the rocks. For yellow bass, fish the rock piles in the south end of the lake using a small jig tipped with a small minnow. Anglers are catching freshwater drum at the spillway using night crawlers on the bottom. Bullheads are biting at the spillway on night crawlers. For muskies, fish Stony Point south towards Jingle's Point for suspended fish relating to weed lines and rock reefs.
West Okoboji Lake (Dickinson): Fish for largemouth bass around boat docks or weed lines in North, Emerson and Millers bays. Smallmouth bass are around the deeper rock piles in Miller's Bay, and Pocahontas, Fort Dodge, Pillsbury and Gull points and hitting jerk baits, crawdads or leeches. Drift fish the deeper weed lines with leeches in North, Miller's or Smiths bays for bluegills. For walleyes, fish the weed lines near rock reefs with a slip bobber and leech or spinner rigs with worms or leeches, or troll crankbaits along outside weed lines in Emerson or Miller's bays. Anglers are trolling crankbaits and casting bucktails along weed edges for northern pike. For muskies, fish along weed lines at North, Smith's or Emerson bays early in the morning or late in the evening.
Storm Lake (Buena Vista): Fishing is slow for walleye and white bass. A few channel catfish are being caught on night crawlers and cut bait.
Black Hawk Lake (Sac): Fishing is fair to good for catfish on chicken liver.
Yellow Smoke Lake (Crawford): Fishing is good for 7-1/2 to 9-inch bluegills.
Brushy Creek (Webster): Water clarity on the south end of the lake is good. The northeast silt bridge area has an algae bloom. Bluegills can be found along the weed beds or in 10 to 12 feet of water right off the bottom. Bass are moving to deeper, cooler water. A few crappies have been caught around Taylor's Island on minnows.
Clear Lake (Cerro Gordo): Walleye fishing is fair drifting or trolling live bait rigs or trolling crankbaits in the 6 to 14 feet of water. Channel catfish are hitting prepared baits and dead chubs at the reefs, the Ventura Grade, and shoreline areas with a breeze coming in. A few bullheads are being caught off the McIntosh Woods shoreline and the Ventura Grade.
Crystal Lake (Hancock): Channel catfish are hitting from shore and the jetties on chicken liver and chubs.
Smith Lake (Kossuth): Channel catfish are hitting on liver and prepared baits. Largemouth bass fishing has been fair using spinner baits and plastics. Remember the 18-inch minimum length limit on largemouth bass.
Lake Cornelia (Wright): Bullhead fishing is fair for 8 to 10-inch fish using night crawlers on the bottom.
