Cass Lake

The water temps on the Cass Chain are now ranging from 62-68 degrees and the water level is doing great. Fishing action has picked up for most species of fish with the steady warm weather. Panfish are invading the shallows to do there spawning which makes them an easy target and care should be taken to release the males which guard the nests.
Walleye are being caught in as shallow as the weed line and as deep as forty feet. Big minnows, leeches and crawlers are all producing on lindy rigs and spinners. With the weed growth starting to kick into gear the pike and musky are moving into the weed beds more each day. For the pike trolling has been good but the bigger fish have come casting jerk-baits. Musky are chasing bucktails, twitchbaits and cranks.
