Walleyes are still going strong, slightly scattered but still hitting. If you don't limit out you just were not trying. The mass of walleyes stacked up against the last sandbar in 4-5 feet of water are beginning to spread out to 5, 6 and 7 feet of water. With the wind lately the lake is a little bit stirred making a flashy presentation best. Look at gold/bright colored jigs with minnows or go super dark such black to create a solid profile in the tainted water. Also look at brightly colored Lindy Rigs and a good method is to bust out the old spinners and start back peddling anywhere from four to seven feet of water all along the eastern and southern shore. A good bite is taking place just south of Westwinds Resort and directly in front of Mort's Dock on the south shore. Some fish are starting to show up on deeper rock piles but the better numbers still appear to be slightly shore bound.

Crappies have definitely made the move to deeper water. Majority of the fish are coming from deeper structure and a few around the several crib locations in the lake. Bobber and a minnow is still the trick.

Pike have had a few false starts this year with a day or two of activity then a few days of nothing then back on fire for a day or two. This year's weather has really shaken up the pike population. With the hot temps on the forecast we should see these pike starting to get a bit angry and angry is good. Best trick for pike is the lightest tackle you have in the boat on the wimpiest rod in the boat…surefire way for a trophy class pike to hit! If targeting pike look at slower flashy presentations if the water is cloudy and natural colored fast presentations if the water clears up or has the "Red" color to it.

Lets not forget about our lovely sheephead…just throw anything close to the bottom anywhere on the lake and they will feed like piranhas.

A very important side note:
With the water temps beginning to rise keep in mind how the released fish are handled. In silted water and high temps these fish become very fragile so please practice quality catch and release…respect the lake and the lake will respect you.

Have fun and enjoy the outdoors.
